True Fictions. Visionary photography from the seventies until now

First retrospective exhibition ever held in Italy dedicated to "staged photography", a genre that has revolutionized the language of photography since the eighties and its place among the contemporary arts. At Palazzo Magnani, Corso Garibaldi 29. Exhibition closed to the public as from February 21, 2021 because of Coronavirus health emergency.

First retrospective exhibition ever held in Italy of staged photography, a genre that has revolutionised the language of photography since the 1980s and its place among the contemporary arts.
The photographers in the exhibition range from precursors of the genre and great masters such as Jeff Wall, Cindy Sherman, James Casebere, Sandy Skoglund, Yasumasa Morimura, Laurie Simmons, David Lachapelle, to the earliest exponents, rarely seen in Italy, among them Bernard Faucon, Eileen Cowin and Bruce Charlesworth, and, finally, young, but already established figures, including Paolo Ventura, Lori Nix, Miwa Yanagi, Alison Jackson, Alekasandr Petlura, Jung Yeondoo and Jiang Pengyi.

Collective exhibition dedicated to “staged photography”. On display are over fifty big-size works made by the following artists: Jeff Wall, Cindy Sherman, James Casebere, Sandy Skoglund, Yasumasa Morimura, Laurie Simmons, David Lachapelle, Bernard Faucon, Eileen Cowin, Bruce Charlesworth, David Levinthal, Paolo Ventura, Lori Nix, Miwa Yanagi, Alison Jackson, Alekasandr Petlura, Jung Yeondoo, Jiang Pengyi. At Palazzo Magnani, corso Garibaldi 29. As from Friday, November 6, 2020, the exhibition will be suspended until December 3, 2020.

Palazzo Magnani will be invaded by goldfish, icefalls in deserts, invented cities, Marilyn Monroe and Lady D. shopping together.
The photographers range from precursors of the genre and great masters such as Jeff Wall, Cindy Sherman, James Casebere, Sandy Skoglund, Yasumasa Morimura, Laurie Simmons, David Lachapelle, to the earliest exponents, rarely seen in Italy, as Bernard Faucon, Eileen Cowin and Bruce Charlesworth, and young, though already established figures, including Paolo Ventura, Lori Nix, Miwa Yanagi, Alison Jackson, Alekasandr Petlura, Jung Yeondoo and Jiang Pengyi.

Have you ever talked to a work of art? Two Thursdays a month the guided tours change. In front of one work, visitors have the opportunity to take time for themselves and enter a relationship with the work of art, discover it through their own eyes and point of view.
