The San Prospero Church and the Dresden sale
During the XVIII century the Dukes of Este, who were fond of art, took possession of works by the painters the Correggio, Camillo Procaccini, Annibale Carracci, Guido Reni, Lionello Spada and Alessandro Tiarini.
Therefore masterpieces as '"The Adoration of the Shepherds" by the Correggio, the "San Matteo Holy Virgin" by Annibale Carracci and the "Virgin Mary and three saints" by Guido Reni, which were originally kept in the church, became part of the Este collection; later they arrived in Dresden, capital city of Saxony, as partial payment of the debts of the Dukes.
Inside the San Prospero Church are now copies painted by Boulanger and Stringa in the XVII century.
