The San Prospero Basilica ownings sold to Dresda

During the seventeenth century, the Dukes of Este, who were fond of art, took possession of works by Correggio, Procaccini, Carracci, Reni, Spada and Tiarini.

Therefore masterpieces as '"The Adoration of the Shepherds"  by Correggio, the "Madonna di San Matteo" by Annibale Carracci and the "Madonna and three saints" of Reni, which were originally in our Basilica, became part of the Este collection; later on they ended up in Dresden, capital city of Saxony, as partial payment of the debts of the Dukes.

Inside the Basilica of San Prospero are now copies painted by Boulanger and by Stringa in the the seventeenth century
