Description

It is the monument to the Resistance movement of Reggio Emilia, a bronze work by the sculptor Remo Brioschi placed on a granite base with the inscription:

"A GLORIA E RICORDO
DELLA RESISTENZA
25 APRILE 1958
"

The sculpture represents the last moments of life of a group of victims of nazi-fascism. The iconography is that of martyrdom: the vibrations of the planes of light and the reverberation of the bronze follow the vertical tension of the temples that support the weight of the bodies of the civil victims and evoke feelings of heroism and suffering.
The monument was built thanks to a public subscription that involved the entire Province.
The inauguration took place April 25, 1958.

Not far on the right, in 1972, Giacomo Fontanesi built a Memorial in honor of the 5 people killed by policemen July 7, 1960.
