From A1 Motorway - Reggio Emilia exit
Go along Via Maramotti to SS9 bypass in the direction of Parma. At the roundabout turn right (second street), at the next roundabout turn right (second street) into Via XX Settembre. At the third roundabout turn right (first street) into Via della Costituzione.

By bus
From Reggio Emilia Railway Station
Bus No. 9 - “Via Piemonte” terminal; get off at "Consorzio Agrario" stop, then go right into Via F.lli Manfredi to the roundabout, then turn left and, at the next roundabout, turn left into Via della Costituzione. Fonderia is 20 metres on the left.

Description

Inaugurated in 2004, it was born from the valuable architectural recovery of a foundry, built in 1938, which was part of the Lombardini Motori industrial complex, located on the edge of the historic center of the city of Reggio Emilia. The recovery work, conceived and implemented with the contribution of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and the Emilia-Romagna Region, was entrusted to the engineer Maurizio Zamboni, who enhanced the original destination by creating systems, finishes and floors on style industrial. The building has the structure of a large Romanesque cathedral, dominated by iron and glass.

The large central nave, divided into two sections - the square and the large rehearsal room - is 65 meters long, 16 wide and almost 13. The wings on the side house two rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and a room dedicated to exhibitions, conferences and small meetings. The main space is the large rehearsal room where the Aterballetto Company carries out its business. In the upper part are the offices of the Foundation, which overlook the covered square. A suspended walkway in wood and steel connects the two wings of the Foundry, offering an unusual view from above of the main test room.

A special feature of the building is its double face: sunny and bright during the day, mysterious and fascinating in the evening. The names of the three rehearsal rooms - sala Fucina (Forge Hall), sala Fusione (Smelting Hall) and sala Formatura (Moulding Hall) - maintain an ideal link between the previous and the new use of the building: even in the choreography the movements must be forged, fused and "formed" to give life to the dance .
The Foundry, from a place where heavy metal was cast, has become an efficient creative fusion laboratory from which to continue the action of promoting dance and spreading the art of dance that has made the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto a point of reference of international importance.
