Fortified tower

Built in Art-Nouveau style at the beginning of the 20th century, it is an interesting example of industrial archaeology.
Via Carlo V - 42015 Correggio

The building can only be viewed from the outside, and it rises on the site of one of the sixteenth-century bastions (called Carlo V) which protected the town and which traces remain on the north-west side.

The structure was originally built as a drying room for silkworm cocoons, a storehouse for wine and distillery, taking advantage of its isolated position and the height of the structure. Its industrial destination nevetheless failed, and the building was purchased by the Municipality for public housing.
It currently houses a nursing facility for the elderly.
The building is made of exposed brick and has the form of a stretched U.
