Description

The area (about 30 km) that divides Reggio Emilia to the Po River is called "bassa" (low land). It's full of history (the so-called small Capitals of the Reinassance) and nature (all the area around the Big river).
Through small country roads it's easy to reach Brescello, renown for the characters of Don Camillo and Peppone, created by Giovannino Guareschi. To this saga and its author the village dedicates two museums and several places in memory of the period of the shooting of the movies.
From here, using the bike path on the embankment, you will reach Boretto, primary port on the Po river, start of amusing boat trips.
Keeping cycling then, you will discover the small capitals of the Reinassance: Gualtieri, home of the "primitive" painter Antonio Ligabue; Guastalla, typical court of the period of the Gonzaga domain; Luzzara, birth place of Zavattini and homeland of the Naives Art.
The itinerary leads through poplars, floodplains, natural vegetation and several water mirrors.
